London Film Academy (LFA) is proud to announce the introduction of new partial scholarships for students joining the MA Filmmaking and MA Screenwriting programmes.
This marks a significant milestone for LFA and reflects the ongoing commitment to making world-class film education more accessible to talented creatives from a wider range of backgrounds. Alongside the existing BA scholarship scheme for UK students, these new scholarships will provide financial support to successful UK and international applicants, helping reduce barriers to postgraduate study and enabling more aspiring filmmakers and screenwriters to pursue their ambitions.
Designed to support students/applicants who demonstrate exceptional creative potential, dedication to their craft, and passion for storytelling, the scholarships form part of LFA’s wider mission to champion emerging talent and ensure that financial circumstances do not stand in the way of opportunity.
Sara Schuricht-Coleman, Admissions Manager at LFA, said:
For prospective students considering one of our MA programmes, these scholarships represent an exciting new opportunity to gain industry focused training while receiving additional financial support throughout their studies.
Am I eligible?
To be considered for one of the MA scholarships, applicants must have successfully secured an offer of a place on either the MA Filmmaking or MA Screenwriting programme.
Applicants will also need to clearly demonstrate financial need and/or a low socio-economic background. Where applicable, candidates must have explored and applied for any available postgraduate funding opportunities, such as the UK Master’s Loan, Educational Loan, Local Authority/Government Funding Schemes).
A place on one of our MA programmes must be successfully attained before applying for our partial scholarships.
How to apply for LFA partial scholarships
Applicants who wish to be considered should contact the Admissions Team by email.
Applicants will be sent a comprehensive application form and asked to provide a financial plan and submit a 500-word supporting statement outlining their circumstances. Applicants will also be required to provide specific documentation evidencing their financial circumstances.
Applications will be reviewed and shortlisted candidates will then be invited to an interview. Outcomes will be communicated in writing in the summer semester.
Sara added:
Each scholarship application will be means tested and carefully assessed on its individual merits. Due to the high volume of applications we anticipate receiving, any decision not to award a scholarship will reflect the strength of the applicant pool and the limited funding available, rather than an applicant's abilities, potential, or suitability for study at LFA.
What does being a Scholar involve?
Scholarship recipients become ambassadors for London Film Academy, working alongside our Admissions and Marketing teams to inspire the future generations of filmmakers and screenwriters.
Scholars will have the opportunities to share their experiences and creative journeys both during and after their studies. This includes supporting our virtual Open House events, contributing written content for newsletters, attending in-person events such as Open Days or school fairs, or assisting our Marketing team by capturing behind-the-scenes content during shoots, among other activities.
We welcome MA partial scholarship applications from all creative individuals and all backgrounds, and we look forward to welcoming the first recipients of this opportunity to LFA alongside the rest of their cohort in September.
