London Film Academy was pleased to welcome actor Gemma Knight Jones in for a masterclass for our BA (Hons) Filmmaking students and MA Filmmaking students. Gemma has numerous impressive credits to her name both on stage and screen, including her role as DC Mukasa in acclaimed Paramount+ drama series Mobland (2025). She's also starred in Going Dutch (2025), Professor T (2025), and Andor (2024) on screen, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, The Lion King, Sister Act and Hairspray on the West End.

The key focus of Gemma's masterclass, in discussion with LFA's Directing Teaching Fellow Anthony Alleyne, was the best approaches for directing actors and giving them the guidance they need to deliver on the filmmaker's vision. Gemma shared how communication shapes performance, and the practical ways that LFA students can create an environment on set that is conducive to actors doing their best work.
We'd like to thank Gemma for sharing her valuable insights with our students, who had no shortage of questions for her throughout the session.
