British Bangladeshi filmmaker Rumman Khan taught LFA students how to critically examine the power dynamic at every step of the filmmaking process. Being vigilant of extractive storytelling is crucial in order to create space for ownership of storytelling by indigenous communities in the Global South.

Chawana Muyembi, an accomplished Zambian filmmaker and cinematographer, also shared how telling stories is an integral part of the Zambian culture and how it influences his own style of filmmaking. Highlighting the benefits of filmmaking within an under-funded film industry, he illustrated how one builds resilience and resourcefulness.
