London Film Academy was delighted to welcome Eddie Hamilton, Oscar-nominated editor of Top Gun: Maverick, Mission: Impossible - Fallout, and Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning to The Gate Picturehouse in Notting Hill Gate, as part of Welcome Week 2025. Eddie gave a comprehensive masterclass and workshop session, walking students through his editing decks for Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and Kingsman: The Secret Service and discussing how he forms sequences from hundreds of hours of raw action footage.

Eddie also spoke about his career trajectory to date, sharing how he went from the film club at UCL to editing some of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters of the 21st century and being nominated for an Academy Award for Top Gun: Maverick. He was also joined on stage by colleague and LFA graduate Rob Avery, who discussed his successes in the editorial department of the recent Mission: Impossible films as well as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Eddie and Rob were incredibly gracious with their time, and our students leapt at the chance to speak with them afterwards and gleam additional advice on how to stand out in the film industry.
