Things To Do if You're Staying in London for the Easter Break

14 April 2025

Easter has rolled around, and with it a break for LFA students. Whether you’re visiting family for Easter or looking forward to some time off, we hope you have a relaxing and refreshing break over the next few weeks.

If you’re staying in the London area over the Easter period, here’s a quick list of things you can do to pass the time in style:

Catch a free jazz gig

Fancy some free music on a weeknight? Then, visit the Night Tales Loft in Hackney for free 'Jazz Wednesdays'. Each week, the venue hires local jazz musicians and puts them in the spotlight for performing in their rooftop loft. Entry is free before 7:30pm (£5 after), with two sessions from 6pm to 9pm and 9:15pm to 11pm.

Indulge your sweet tooth

There’s no better excuse for treating yourself to some chocolate than the classic “It’s Easter” defence. If you’re in London for the long weekend, check out Battersea Power Station, where a wide variety of chocolate markets and fun, free activities are set to take place across Easter weekend (18 to 21 April). There’s also a collection of 21 decorative Easter egg sculptures on display (though they’re not edible, sadly).

Pay Frank the Rabbit a visit

Now that you’re stuffed full of chocolate, why not settle in for a cosy watch of one of the most existentially unnerving yet strangely life-affirming films of all time? Donnie Darko, the definitive Easter movie, is showing at the Prince Charles Cinema on Good Friday (18 April).

See some free comedy gigs

As brilliant as it is, you’ll definitely need a bit of a laugh after watching Donnie Darko. Angel Comedy Club offers free comedy gigs every single night of the week, where you can see up-and-coming comedians workshop their routines (and if you enjoy their set, you can chuck in a buck or an amount you won’t miss). It’s first come, first served, Just rock up a bit before doors opening at 7:30pm to get a queue number, then grab a seat and enjoy.

Switch off and visit the Kew Gardens

The end of April marks that sweet spot between the long and bright evenings while not being too hot outside. Enjoy a leisurely walk among the greenery of Kew Gardens, disconnect from the noise, and maybe find some inspiration for your next film project.
