At LFA, we are passionate about celebrating the remarkable journeys our alumni embark upon after graduation.

Among these inspiring stories is LFA Alumnus Geo, whose unconventional path from graduate to independent filmmaker, working on HBO projects, is truly remarkable.

Finding Passion and Purpose at LFA

Geo’s journey began as a self-taught writer in 2018, with aspirations to direct his own short film. However, when a friend could no longer complete their project, it ignited something in Geo, who decided to go for it and fully immerse himself in the world of filmmaking.

I knew I wanted to go to school to hone my skills and visiting London in 2019 solidified my decision. LFA felt like the perfect fit, so I applied to their diploma program, and fortunately, I got in.

The diploma program was a transformative experience for Geo, leading him to continue his studies and enrol on the Master's program here at LFA.

Probably about a week after that, I was hired by Apple TV+ and returned to America. It was a whirlwind, but LFA prepared me for the challenges ahead.

Lessons Learned and Bonds Formed

Geo speaks highly of the support he received from the LFA team, especially during the pandemic.

The connections, the bonds, and the friendships I made at LFA were invaluable. The fire and passion for filmmaking that I encountered at LFA matched my enthusiasm.

One standout memory is the support from Denise and the mental health resources provided by LFA.

Being away from family during a pandemic was tough, but the LFA community was there for me.

Upcoming Projects and Crowdfunding Efforts

Geo is now channelling his creative energy into his passion project, "Crossfaded," which is a testament to his dedication and creative vision.

This short film, set in Philadelphia, mirrors his journey and is a testament to betting on oneself amidst adversity.

We're in the pre-production phase, and I've brought together a team of LFA alumni and current students to make it happen.

Advice for Current and Prospective LFA Students

Geo offers sage advice for those navigating their filmmaking journey:

Believe in yourself but stay humble. Be competitive but value friendships. Trust your intuition and be patient. Filmmaking is a marathon, not a race. Practical goals are essential but always aim high.

He underscores the importance of starting on any set, be it a commercial, music video, or feature film.

The best way to get ahead is to find a set and work hard. Make sure you are seen and build a network of peers you can grow with.
