Young Filmmakers at LFA: First short films by our BFI Film Academy students
23 January 2017

We were proud and excited to see the first film productions by our BFI Film Academy young filmmakers who graduated this weekend after weeks of hard work and dedicated filmmaking.

This talented group aged from 16-19 years old, went from script to screen over a period of weeks to produce two fantastic, four-minute films:

  • 'Ch-ch-ch-ch changes' is a compelling account of gender identity and self-knowledge portraying Alex and Alexandra, and the first steps of an empowering transformation.
  • 'Inside Out' follows a man as he navigates the emotional landscape of visiting his wife in hospital after an accident; revealing the power of memory and human touch to bring relationships – even fraught ones – to life.

The films were screened in the LFA Cinema before an invited audience of cast, crew, family and friends and the day was attended by a representative from BFI Film Academy UK Network.

The students should be immensely proud of their achievements and we wish both films every success on the short film festival circuit. We will be following the futures of these talented filmmakers with great anticipation.
